What is Clautics? +
Clautics is a Chrome extension that tracks your Claude AI usage in real time. It shows your 5-hour session limit, weekly cap, extra usage spending, and daily message count — all things Claude doesn't surface clearly in its own interface.
Does Clautics work with Claude Free plan? +
Yes. Clautics works on all Claude plans — Free, Pro, Team, and Max. The data it shows adapts to whatever limits your current plan has active.
Is Clautics affiliated with Anthropic? +
No. Clautics is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Anthropic in any way. It reads publicly accessible usage data from Claude's own API.
Does it work in browsers other than Chrome? +
Yes — Clautics works in any Chromium-based browser: Chrome, Arc, Brave, and Edge all support it since they use the same extension format. Firefox support is on the roadmap. Safari is planned further out.

Your data is yours.

Can Clautics read my Claude conversations? +
No. Clautics never reads your conversation content. It only intercepts usage percentage data from Claude's internal limit API — the same numbers Claude uses to enforce limits. Your messages are completely private.
Where is my usage data stored? +
All data is stored locally in chrome.storage.local — an isolated storage bucket Chrome provides for extensions. It is completely separate from cookies, localStorage, and browsing data. Nothing is sent to any server.
Will clearing cookies or browser data delete my history? +
No. chrome.storage.local is not affected by clearing cookies, cache, or browsing history. Your usage history survives all of those. The only thing that deletes it is removing the extension itself.
Does Clautics send any data anywhere? +
The only outbound request Clautics ever makes is a license key validation to Lemon Squeezy's API — and only if you purchased Pro and entered a key. Free users have zero outbound requests. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking.

How it actually works.

How does Clautics get my usage data? +
Clautics intercepts Claude's own internal API requests — specifically the calls Claude makes to check your usage limits before and after each message. These are the same requests Claude uses to enforce limits. Clautics reads the response and displays it.
What happens if Anthropic changes their API? +
Clautics monitors Claude's endpoints. When Anthropic changes something that affects Clautics, we ship an update through the Chrome Web Store within 48 hours and it updates automatically — you don't need to do anything.
Does Clautics slow down Claude or my browser? +
No measurable impact. Clautics is under 50KB, makes no additional network requests, and only processes data that Claude has already fetched. It runs as a lightweight background script.
What permissions does Clautics need and why? +
Clautics requests access to claude.ai (to inject the panel and read usage data), storage (to save your usage history locally), and webRequest (to intercept Claude's internal API calls). It does not request access to any other websites or your browsing history.

Is Pro really a one-time payment? +
Yes, completely. You pay $3.99 once and get all Pro features permanently including all future updates. No subscription, no renewal, no hidden fee. You'll receive a license key by email and enter it once in the extension settings.
What do I get with Pro that I don't get free? +
Pro unlocks: full 365-day activity heatmap (free is 7 days), lifetime history that never resets, data export as CSV or JSON, custom alert thresholds (instead of fixed 80%/95%), and priority support.
What if I reinstall and lose my Pro access? +
Your license key was emailed to you by Lemon Squeezy when you bought. Just open Clautics settings, enter the key again, and Pro re-activates instantly. Same key, no charge, forever.
Can I get a refund? +
